We decided to put up a clothesline to help cut back on our electric bill this summer. Mom had already bought the rope and hardware, and bolted a post to the deck stairs, so tonight all we had to do was attach the other end of the line around a tree. The girls were eager to help.
While Mom got everything ready, Em and Kate inspected the ladder to make sure it was safe.Mom had picked a tree about ten feet back in the woods for the other end, but it was surrounded by poison ivy, so we went with a smaller oak instead. Hope it holds! After both ends were secure, Mama tied one of her special knots from her sailing days. Now we just need to trim the rope ends (and wait for the sun to come back out), and we're ready to hang some clothes!Projects like these are always more fun when the whole family helps out.
