Today we woke to a much better forecast: Overcast, high sixties, and showers. We had to get our bikes out of the storage tent in Farmington--luckily Chris had greased the chains last night so they weren't too rusty.
The Day 2 start was much less regimented than Day 1--Trekkers just grabbed their bikes and took off. At the starting line we were feeling pretty sore, but also happy to not be riding in a downpour. Today the route was from Farmington to Waterville, and there were a few more sights to see. This river was running high because of the rain yesterday. The rest stops were again an oasis of snacks, port-a-pottys, and water refill jugs. And there was even a bridge construction site to ride through in Norridgewock!Unfortunately, Brenda's bike had some mechanical difficulties and she had to visit the mechanics' tent at the final rest stop. Finally we reached Waterville and rode to the finish line at Colby College. We were happily surprised to see Nana, Uncle David, and the kids waiting to cheer us in!While we were waiting for our other team members, the girls found activities to amuse themselves. This fire hydrant was a big hit. Finally Grandma & Pop Pop rolled under the balloon banner at the finish line. They were glad to be done too. Only one more day of riding to finish up the Trek!
