Snowy Sunday

We got our first decent snowstorm of the season last night, and today there was at least 6 inches on the ground when we woke up. The kids were thrilled, of course, and wanted to go outside immediately after breakfast.
Mama couldn't wait to get out her boat sled and take some runs down into the field. We were keeping a very close eye on Emily to make sure she didn't start struggling to breathe again, but she did fine. The girls quickly got busy making snow angels........then they helped Mama shovel the deck........and they even helped Mom clear off the Rink of Dreams! After the initial excitement died down they (of course) got cold, so we came inside for hot chocolate and a little painting. But in the afternoon they were ready to brave the snow some more, so we suited up and tried it again. This time it was more sunny and a little less cold. The kids found out that the slide and the swings still work in the snow......but the sandbox is another story. We'll probably have to wait until spring to play in the sandbox again. They were also brave enough to try some sledding........and they learned quick that the best way to get back up the hill is to just refuse to get out of the sled!It was really nice to be back home in our own house today, and to enjoy the snow together.
