Tonight after dinner we decided to have a "camp fire" to finish off the remnants of the brush pile. The girls helped Mama drag a few more branches down the driveway to throw on.
Emily is really good at dragging brush.
She also really liked the camp fire (who doesn't?)
Kate was dressed for the field--she finally fits into Emily's old Carhartt overalls.
Mama is very good at building and tending fires. This is good, because Mom is pretty bad at it!
As the fire burned down, Emily decided to rake up hay from the field and burn it too. She is a very hard worker!
At first the girls didn't want to get too close to the fire, but they eventually got pretty comfortable near it, especially when it started getting colder.
All that hay made it smoke quite a bit!
It's always nice to sit by a fire with your family.
Finally it was time for bedtime. The girls said good night to the sun and headed up the hill with Mom for their bath and snack. Mama stayed to tend to the fire until it burned out.
