Chris has been boiling down the sap from Nana's maple trees, and today we tried out the first batch. She used a steel pan and propane barbecue to boil most of it....
...but we also did some inside on the stove top. Out of the first twelve gallons of sap, she boiled it down into 7 cups of sweet maple syrup.
This morning Chris made pancakes (and eggs and bacon) and we tried out the syrup...it was delicious!
The girls really loved it....and we are all still amazed that it really came right out of a tree!
Chris you amaze me.... I love Maple Syrup. I will only buy real Maple Syrup. I never realized to took so much to get so little. NO WONDER IT COST SO MUCH. To have it home made is even better!
