Turning Two

Today was another big party day--our littlest daughter turned two! Kate got a special hairdo for the occasion and looked all grown up.
We had lots of family over for the big event, and we dished up plenty of leftover bonfire food. Everyone was still recovering a little from last night.Kate was thrilled that the party was just for her. She had been looking forward to it all week long. She had a stack of presents to open, and got some help from Mom and Connor. Emily helped too, and even found a present for herself in the stack!Kate got a pretty purple purse full of fun things, like sunglasses, keys, and lipstick. Who taught her how to put on lipstick? She also got some great new books and some money for her college fund. But her favorite present, by far, was this cute little tea party set. As you can probably tell, Kate is kind of a "girly" girl.Mama cooked up some hot dogs for lunch--Yum!All the kids enjoyed the hot dogs. It was just like last night at the bonfire!Nana made Kate a delicious flower cake with cupcakes for petals. The birthday girl needed a little bit of help blowing out the candles.Everyone loved the cake!

After cake, the kids went up to the playroom for the traditional wrestling and roughhousing. They have to burn off that sugar high somehow!Even Kate got into it, but notice how she's clutching part of her tea set also. After everyone went home, Kate was still in a party mood, so she did some laps around the dining room with her balloon.Since she's the baby of the family, Kate doesn't get much time in the spotlight. But today was her special day, and she really enjoyed it. Happy Birthday Kate!
