Today Grandma & Grandpa L. came over to help Mom work on the sandbox. Mom's goal was to get the box, seats, and corner posts in (for the future roof). We decided to put the sandbox in the corner of the yard, just past the swingset and between two of the baby apple trees.
Emily really wanted to help, so she got out her blue shovel and helped Grandpa with some of the digging.
But then she got distracted by a cute little toad.
Grandma really helped out by playing with the kids so Mom and Grandpa could work. They did some swinging....
...."worked" on the deck.....
....and they even went for a walk in the woods!
Meanwhile we did the excavation for the sandbox, including holes for the corner posts.
Then we made sure the frame was square and level.....
....and the corner posts were plumb and secure. Emily was back to help with the bolt-up operation. She's actually pretty good with a ratchet.
It was a lot of work to get the sandbox this far....now we just need some sand!
Emily and Kate both enjoyed working on the sandbox, as well as spending time with their grandparents today.
