When we bought our house (mid-July last year), the seller told us that we had a great view of the Winslow fireworks. We took his word for it, and invited a bunch of people over to watch them last night. Unfortunately, the weather was not really cooperating (cloudy with showers), so even though we had hoped to hold the party on the front lawn, we cleared out the garage instead. The guests started showing up around 7:00.
Nana helped us all get in the spirit of the holiday when she showed up with her Lady Liberty hairdo! As we waited for darkness to fall and the show to start, we all tried to forget about the rain and just have fun.
The kids had no problem forgetting about the rain. In fact, they embraced the rain and got an extra thrill out of staying up so late. There were enough kids at the party that they kept themselves entertained, which was nice for the parents. They even managed to catch some fireflies! Finally it was time for fireworks, so we assembled in the driveway to watch.Sure enough, the show was great and we do in fact have an awesome view. Emily and Kate barely made it until the end of the show. They were exhausted, and went right to bed as soon as the last boom faded away.Happy Fourth of July, and let's all hope for better weather next year!
