Time for a rehash of Mama's big trip to New York City with Nana, Alana, and Lili. They arrived in New York on Sunday, just after the gay pride parade. This is the front of Kenneth Cole. On Fifth Ave.
They then headed over to Rockefeller Center. The next day they hit the Carnegie Deli for breakfast. Then on to the Battery to catch the boat to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.Lili with lower Manhattan in the background.Chris loves Coast Guard helicopters...Perhaps overkill, but this is a great photo:Chris, Alana, and Lili from Liberty Island. The entrance to the Ellis Island Museum.Chris and Brenda love bridges. The Brooklyn Bridge in particular is a special bridge. Designed by John Roebling and the first steel-wire suspended bridge using Roebling's wire. Chris worked on the railroad that went past Roebling's steel mill in NJ, which was defunct and a hazardous waste clean up site, but still with the mill and hulks of old trains remaining. Here's some photos via a separate link: http://www.sitesofnj.com/Roeblingsteel.html
But below, the Brooklyn Bridge with a Staten Island Ferry on left. After arriving back back at the Battery, they walked up to the World Trade Center. Both Alana and Lili were too young to really remember New York with the towers or 9/11. For Chris, it was a total flashback and felt surreal. The whole landscape still seems odd. After a slice, we grabbed a train to Macy's.
Macy's was the highlight for the girls. 10 floors of shopping fun. Chris immediately noticed the huge Lance billboard! Rock the Tour Lance!!Alana and Lili in Times Square. Love the lawn chairs!Alana and Lili in Central Park.
The huge hit was the fountain playground in Central Park.Alana and Lili had a great time on the trip, but after two days of traveling and touring we were all ready to head for home.

Hi Guys - Wanted to tell you I have a framed print of an architectural drawing/blueprint of the Brooklyn Bridge if you want to find a way to copy it - it is one of my FAVORITE pieces of wall art :)
