Slip-n-Slide Party

Mom had the day off work today so we took the opportunity to have some friends over and play in the water. Our longtime blog readers might remember the "redneck" slip-n-slide party we had last summer (highlights are in our very first blog post!), and we decided to drag out the big sheet of plastic and try it again.
First, though, we warmed up with the kiddie pool.
Mom even got out some water balloons, which were a big hit with the kids. But all that splashing around was just a prelude to the big event. After Mom and Mama got all the hoses and sprinklers set up, Emily and Luke were the first ones in line. Then Allison hit it too, and Kate tried it out sitting on Mom's lap. Then pretty soon everyone was going!

Almost everyone, that is. Aunt Sara and Uncle David cheered us on from the sidelines.Sebastian thought sending the water balloons down the slide was really fun.Last year Emily was a little too small to enjoy the slip-n-slide, but this year she really liked it. She tried it headfirst........while Luke tried it feet first. After fortifying herself with some Caribou........Mama tried out the slide superman style!Amy and Henning did some romantic sliding........while the kids tried group slides, holding hands.Even Uncle Seth went for it!Eventually the grass at the end of the slide turned into a mudpit, just like last year.Which, surprisingly, didn't really faze the kids at all. They liked mud sliding! Finally it was time to roll up the plastic and let the lawn recover until next time.We feel lucky to have such a great hill in the front yard--perfect for winter sledding, and summer sliding.

  1. Okay, I didn't know that this was what was meant by "slip-n-slide" party! Oh my goodness. I can't believe I missed it. Is this going to be an annual event? I'm glad it stopped raining for your party!
