On Saturday Mom and the girls decided to head back to Fort Halifax while Mama got ready for our fireworks-viewing party. We got there just in time to catch the tail end of the parade.
It seemed like everyone in Winslow was there, plus a lot of other folks too. It was packed! There were lots of fun things to try, like face (and arm) painting........bounce houses........pony rides........and a petting zoo.We wrapped it up with a little ice cream treat.......and some fresh-squeezed lemonade, which was a first for the girls. Since the lemonade cups didn't have tops, Em and Kate couldn't figure out how to take a drink without spilling (they usually tilt the cups to drink, even with a straw). Finally they just put the cups on the ground and drank from them that way.Somehow we always end up in the same place whenever we go to Fort Halifax (throwing stuff in the river). After the festival, we stopped in at Grandma & Pop Pop's house to watch the first stage of the Tour de France (they have cable). While the kids had a good time in the playroom with their grandparents........Mom and Mama watched some bike racing! Chris has been looking forward to the Tour for a long time, and she was really rooting for Lance Armstrong. She cheered pretty loudly, and (maybe because of her?) Lance had a solid ride and finished 10th--not too shabby for an old guy.
