Fort Halifax

Apparently our town hosts "Maine's Largest 4th of July Festival" (we moved in last year on July 10th, so this is our first 4th holiday here). There are events happening all week at Fort Halifax, culminating in a parade and fireworks on Saturday. Tonight after dinner Mom and the girls stopped in at the Fort to check things out.
There was an Elvis impersonator on stage, but the girls weren't too interested in him (maybe in a few years). What they really wanted to do was play by the water! There were lots of sticks washed up on the shore from all the recent rain. They started off throwing twigs in, but eventually the sticks got bigger........and bigger........and bigger!Em needed some help from Mom for this one. There is no end of fun at Fort Halifax. After we threw all the sticks in, we jumped off rocks for awhile. Then we got slush puppies at the food booth...yum!Predictably, the slush puppies were a hit. Also predictably, they were followed by sugar-high-induced dancing........wrestling........acrobatics........and general rowdiness. So far the Winslow Family Fourth is a hit with us!
