Mom recently discovered a treasure while cleaning up one of our "clutter piles" around the house: An unopened box of beautiful alphabet cards that we received as a gift when Emily was born. Mom knew that only one set would not do, so she ordered another set from Amazon, and the kids got to open both boxes at once.
Then we went through all the cards letter by letter, and the girls got to take turns picking which ones they wanted hung up in their rooms. This way, each kid got a full set of cards. The original set of cards has random pictures on it, and the set that Mom ordered is "Hardware" themed, so all the pictures are of tools. Then Mom got out the foam mounting squares........and hung up all the cards!Mom considered putting the cards up randomly, but in the end she just could not resist the compulsive need to put them in alphabetical order.
The girls love them! Emily's are up high on her walls, which looks nice and also makes it so she can't rip them down when she is in her room for a timeout (bonus!).Kate's are down low because for some reason the foam squares wouldn't stick to her sloping ceiling walls. She loves to run from card to card, shouting out the letters. The kids are learning their letters at school, and having them up on the walls seems to be a lot of fun for them too.
We bought those same cards (not the tool ones) a while ago for Teo's next room (when he moves out of the nursery). I love the illustrations.
ReplyDeleteE, I agree...the illustrations on these cards are just beautiful. There are some other "themes" too from the same manufacturer, but the hardware set is definitely my favorite :)
