Tummy Ache

Emily has been complaining of a tummy ache for the past week, and it has seemed to get worse and worse. Her appetite fell off a couple of days ago too, so we (of course) have been very concerned and have been trying to figure out what's wrong. This has been hampered by the fact that she's three, and all we can get out of her is "my tummy hurts".

After three trips to the doctor/hospital, one missed day of school, one unsuccessful attempt to drink barium for a cat scan (to check for appendicitis), one blood test (also for appendicitis), and one x-ray (looking for something she might have swallowed), we still don't have a definitive answer. The x-ray, however, did reveal an awful lot of "#2" backed up in her system, so it appears that she might just be extremely constipated.

Regardless of what is causing it, the pain is real and very upsetting to both Emily and to her moms. "A mother is only as happy as her saddest child," and we are all hoping that little Emily will start feeling better real soon.
