A Look Back at 2009

The first day of a new year is a good time to look back at the past 12 months and recognize some milestones. So, without further ado, here are some of ours:

In 2009 Emily grew 2.5 inches, attended her first year of preschool, completed potty-training, graduated to a big girl bed and a booster seat (from a crib and a high chair), and went to the dentist for the first time.
In 2009 Kate grew 3.5 inches(!), attended her first 1/2 year of preschool, started and completed potty-training, graduated from a high chair to a booster seat, and got her first haircut. Along with her sister, she also saw her first movie in a theater.
In 2009 Mom biked 700 miles (including the Trek Across Maine), drove to Massachusetts for business 13 times, built the kids a swingset and a sandbox, and lost 14 lbs in the last two months of the year (holiday season, no less!).
In 2009 Mama biked almost 3000 miles, rode in both the Trek and the Dempsey Challenge, established a garden, bottled 15 gallons of hard apple cider and two gallons of maple syrup, and became a "citizen observer" for CoCoRaHS.2009 was a big year for our family--it was the first time we took an extended family vacation together (to PEI), and our first full year in our new house. We are grateful this year for our good luck, good friends, and closeness to our extended family, and we hope that 2010 will hold much of the same for us. Happy New Year!
