Well, we got the storm we wanted, but we only got about 3 inches of snow, then a nice 1/4" coating of ice over everything. The snow that wasn't iced over was very slushy (see the driveway, before the plow guy hit it, below). We lost power for about 4 hours, so Brenda came home from work early and helped get the generator set up.
This was the first time we really used our new generator, and it worked great! Since we don't have a fireplace or wood stove for backup heat, we depend on this generator to keep the house warm when we lose power, and keep the pipes (and the kids) from freezing.Chris did a lot of shoveling, including the deck and the front walk. The kids like to help shovel too. And, of course, we played in the snow. An ice storm can do a lot of damage (there are many people in New England without power tonight), but it also produces a lot of beauty. Below are some of the photos that we shot during the day today.
