Today we brought our tree up from the basement (where it had been defrosting) and set it up in the living room. The kids were very excited to decorate it--especially Emily, since she remembered last Christmas. Kate was more confused than excited.
Last year Emily couldn't really help with the ornaments, but this year she got the hang of it right away. She was very proud!Kate liked taking the ornaments out of the box and dumping them on the floor, but she wasn't really into actually putting them on the tree. She was about as helpful as Connor, actually. They made a good pair.Because Emily was so productive, we ended up with a lot of ornaments hung near the bottom of the tree, right in front. We think it looks great!Kate finally did catch on a little bit. Next year she'll be able to do a lot more. The trick now is to keep the toddlers and the pets away from the tree until Christmas. When it was all finished, Emily and Mom looked at the tree lights through the cool glasses we got from our Secret Seattle Santas. They make all the lights look like either starbursts or snowmen. Mom said it was "trippy", and Emily wasn't sure what that meant.
