Tonight after dinner Mom took the girls down to the Sebasticook river to explore a little bit. There is a little path just off the road, about a mile from our house.
There used to be a dam just downriver that made this stretch more like a lake, but it was removed last summer to allow fish passage. Our neighbors told us that this spot used to be the local swimming hole, but now it's just a rocky flat. The kids really like playing near the water. They love to pick up rocks and throw them in, although Kate's form is still a little crazy.Emily's developing quite a throwing arm.We kind of like the river like this, because there's more to explore. But the folks who live along it probably liked it better before the dam came out!

This reminds me of when we took you and Bobby out to South End Beach; also one of our trips to the ocean on the Olympic Peninsula.
