Pop Pop and Emily got right to work nailing on tie plates. Emily loves to help out on projects like this.
We couldn't find her plastic hammer from her tool kit, so she used Mom's rubber mallet.
Kate really wanted to help too, so we put her to "work" with a paintbrush and a bucket of water.
Can you tell which plate Emily installed?
After the trusses were finished, the girls put away their tools and started playing with Grandma. That made the roof work go a little faster.
The end truss went up first....Mom was very happy to see that it fit! The end trusses have mosquito netting installed so that in the future the sandbox can be a sanctuary from bugs.
The trusses went up fast--Mom was very grateful for Pop Pop's help, since it would have been a real difficult job for one person.
Very impressive. What's the cover that you use on the sandbox?
ReplyDeleteE & SS, the cover is a custom one we ordered from backyardcity.com. It is basically nylon mesh, with cutouts for the corner posts and snaps all around the perimeter of the box. You just send them your measurements, and they send the cover, then you have to screw the snaps into the wood box, and tada! You can get several different colors, and choose mesh or a more solid material that doesn't let water in. We were just using a tarp with some rocks on it, but it kept blowing away so we went with this.
ReplyDeleteWow. Chris, you may want to reconsider having us over to play -- I'm not sure my kids will ever leave your house!
